Booktrust Best New Illustrator Award
Designed to celebrate the rising talent in the field of illustration Alice was awarded one of the Booktrust Best New Illustrators Awards at a ceremony in central London on 22 March 2011. The ten winners were chosen by a panel of judges including Children’s Laureate Antony Browne and Charlie and Lola author/illustrator Lauren Child. Read more about the award here

Artwork completed for High Street
Alice has recently completed the artwork for her third children’s book with Tate Publishing, The High Street, due for publication in September 2011. Stay tuned for further updates!

Emily’s Ark
Alice has been working with Emily’s Ark a textiles company in Northumberland with specialised in making traditional jointed animal toys to create a new identity for their packaging and labelling. Look out for photos appearing in the Projects section shortly.

Cut out and Dress Greetings Cards launched
Alice has released her second range of greetings cards featuring a range of Cut Out and Dress paper dolls in a variety of snazzy outfits – enabling the sender to post a card and gift in one! Check them out here

Hankyu British Fair
Osaka Alice has been invited to attend the annual Hankyu British Fair in Osaka, Japan. She will be showcasing her illustration work and running demonstrations for the duration of the week. She has been invited out by the Anglo-Japanese company SRG with whom she has created a new range of products specially for the Japanese market. Find out more here.
Cut Out and Make Greetings Cards launched
Alice has released her first range of greetings cards. Featuring 8 ‘cut out and make’ items including a cake, a rocking horse and a sleepy, stripy cat, these cards are the perfect way of combining a card and a gift! Find them in the shop here

Counting Birds Merchandise launched
To accompany the release of her new children’s book, Counting Birds, Alice has developed a new range of bird themed merchandise with Tate. The stylish products include a cut out and make mobile, some very cute cur out and sew owl puppets, along with T shirts, bags and badges. . Find out more here
Counting Birds Launched
Tate Publishing has released Alice’s second children’s book Counting Birds. Using lyrical and rhyming text the book helps young readers count from one to twenty with the help of some feather friends. Alice’s Aviary, Solo exhibition at Red Door Gallery, Edinburgh
Alice’s Aviary presents for the first time a new collection of ornithologically themed works, screenprinted by hand by Alice. An eclectic flock of British birds nestle in the new portfolio of prints, from a tiny plover to an imperious barn owl. Craft Stall at Fringe Sunday, Edinburgh
As part Edinburgh Festival's Fringe Sunday extravaganza Alice Melvin and Laurie Hastings will be at the craft market with a stall of
beautiful handmade objects. With bags, books, purses, prints, matchboxes, luggage labels and much more there will be a fine feast
of handsome handmade items on display!
Come to the Meadows and enjoy some sunshine (hopefully), watch some comedy, listening to some music, soak up the atmosphere and of course
visit Alice and Laurie and their lovely stall! The event is running on Sunday 10 August from 11am to 5pm and is held in the Meadows, just off

Bologna Illustrator's Exhibition
Alice has been selected for the 2008 Illustrators Exhibition at Bologna's Children's Book Fair. 99 illustrators were selected from 2598 submissions and Alice is the sole representative from Great Britain. An A to Z Treasure Hunt Illustration Nomination
Alice Melvin's An A to Z Treasure Hunt has been long listed for the Book Trust's Big Picture Best New Illustrators Award, a campaign with the search to find the UK's Best New Illustrators. Ten winners will be selected from the list of 27 illustrators who were all first published in the UK after 2000. Michael Rosen at Bologna Children's Book Fair will announce the winners on 31 March 2008.
